Batting Stat: 3 Game Trend

Post by HITCHCOCK5 » Wed Mar 10, 2010 5:53 am

Love the software. Got the hang of it now. Could you please consider adding a batting trend? My previous software had a wonderful column that we used to sort by called 3 game trend or change in avg or "delta".

Thanks,

Cameron

What would the value be? The change in batting average over the last 3 games? So

(cumulative batting average now) - (cumulative batting average 3 games ago)

??

Just trying to understand the request.

Thank you.

Or how about just the batting average over the last X amount of games. If we could set this ourselves, then it can filter out last fall season, or early on. Pros always have the ability to tell the players average in April/July, etc...

Also, if we want to separate out stats for league play vs tourney do we just add "league" and "tournament" leagues? Then uncheck the one we don't want to see or check them both if we want the cummulative?

Yes, that is the correct use of Leagues. It basically allows grouping of the games in any way you would like so you can see cumulative statistics for just that league. In fact, you could use leagues for the "last x" games just by creating a league called "Last 5" or whatever, and be sure to remove the oldest from that league any time a new game is played. You could also have leagues set up for months if that is what you are looking for.

Leagues are extremely flexible --- we thought about calling them "Groups" because that is really what they are, just a grouping of games, but the largest use case for them is Leagues, and for less tech savvy folks, "Leagues" makes more sense than "Groups". More tech savvy folks will get the concept that a League is a Group, and can be used to group in any way they like.

Gotcha. So is there a way to move games from one league to another in case you change your mind on how you want it set up? Or say, you do it with league play and tournament play, but also want last 5 games. How can I get the last 5 games if 2 were league games and 3 were from a tournament? And if I removed the game from last 5 would it still be somewhere else (league or tourney)?

You can categorize the games any way you want, and change them any way you want. Just create the leagues you want to be available through League Manager. Then go to Game Manager, select the game you want to set the leagues for, and scroll down to Leagues on the Game Info screen. You can select which leagues that game should belong to from there. You can change it at any time.
