Re: Data Sharing - FAQ
No, there is not a way to do this. If you are hacking around and doing so, you are doing so at your own risk.
If you want us to transfer your database for you from one customer ID to another, we can do that for you. Just do an Options -> Export from both devices and email us the customer IDs and we can transfer the data.
The Data Sharing should not be error-prone... we have made it as foolproof as possible. If you tell us what errors you have had with it, we can look to fix that.
Why would you change devices frequently? If you are talking about switching between two devices for scoring, then Data Sharing is the way to handle that and it only takes a few seconds to transfer a game between devices.

Re: Data Sharing - FAQ
I change devices frequently because its part of my job to do so. I used to carry multiple devices, one my "normal" device and others being used for evaluations, but for a variety of reasons, I find it much more efficient and effective to carry only one device at a time and to use that one device--whichever it happens to be--for everything.
I have each device that I use configured with a nearly identical software load. There is some overhead involved in maintaining this set up, but after lots of practice, its not as much as you might imagine. I also have staff to help me with some of the chore.
Most apps/services that I use consider their online database to be definitive, and their remote databases to be transient, temporary instances. Think about Facebook, Twitter, Evernote, Instagram, Google Docs, Gmail and so on. It takes me about 2 minutes to enter my Exchange account data into a new device, then after a few minutes of syncing, all of my email, contacts, calendar events and task lists have been downloaded and are available on that device. And of course, I can access any of that data from any device at any time, and the server keeps everything perfectly in sync.
FTM has chosen to architect iScore differently, with the remote database being the master and the server being simply a backup. I suspect that over time, you may come to regret that structure as more and more people update their devices.
I recognize that I am an exceptional case, but reading through the thread, it's clear that others want to be able to do this as well. For me, as long as backing up and restoring with Titanium continues to work, I'll be happy. Its not the fastest process in the world and it only works on Android, but its better than the alternative.
Speaking of which, Data Sharing is error prone simply because it is a manual process. All of the leagues have to be retyped by hand; all of the games have to be transferred one at a time; all of the players have to be merged individually. It's a monotonous procedure and its easy to make mistakes. If you only have a few games to transfer, then its okay. If you have a whole season to transfer--with dozens of teams, a hundred or more games, and upwards of 500 players--then its insane.

Re: Data Sharing - FAQ
I am at the point in the data sharing where I'm at the mapping process. Seeing as how I have none of the HS teams that I am in the process of copying over to my iPad from the Fire, I would select all of these teams and players as new, and then on the verify data screen, I hit "import" correct?
I'm so terrified I'm gonna screw something up and lose basically an entire season of JV and Varsity seasons, that I'm trying to get confirmation before I do anything. Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Data Sharing - FAQ
Yes, for brand new teams, you just leave everything as new and use Import. You would only use mapping if you had already had a player on your device and want to map to that existing player. Even if you bring a player in as new, and it turns out you already had the player on the device, you can always use "Merge" tom combine two separate players back into one.

Re: Data Sharing - FAQ
One more question, and I swear I will leave you guys alone.
I have a few players that play both JV, and Varsity. I'm working on importing the Varsity games in now, but when I went to do a JV game, it is picking up the few JV players that also play up. How do I make a distinction between these players when they are on Varsity, and when they are on JV, so their stats for each team aren't lumped in together? It is telling me when I'm importing a JV game, that these guys are there already, but I know it's because they are already there because they were imported in with the Varsity games.

Re: Data Sharing - FAQ
Go to Team Manager, select the Varsity Team, and remove any players from the Roster that should not be there. Then they will not be shown on the Team Stats for Varsity. The "underlying mapping" to the players will go to the same players, that is why data sharing is telling you they already exist.

Re: Data Sharing - FAQ
Wondering if anyone hit this before. I just recently started using iScore and got all the teams and players set up.
On my phone I set up the game we where going to have that night with the batting order and what positions the players would be in in the first inning.
I ended up not scoring the game as it was happening on my phone so the night I exported the game and did a data share on my tablet so it had the game listed. I then used the tablet to enter the game how it was marked in the scorebook.
I now can't get my phone to sync the data. I tried data share from web and it did not show up. I tried deleting the game from the phone and it still did not show up.
Any ideas?
Also a suggesion apologise if it already exist.
1. I coach a 9-10 years old team so the players move around a fair amount between innings. It would be great if you could put in the positions for all innings ahead of time.
Thank you

Re: Data Sharing - FAQ
Deleting the game from the iPhone, and then doing the data share from the iPad to the iPhone will allow the game to be transferred again.
You can pre-enter the fielding positions for players by creating the game, pressing play, and when the Lineups appear, tap Options -> Preset Fielders.

Re: Data Sharing - FAQ
Thank you for the quick reply.
I'm using an Andriod phone (HTC Amaze 4G) and Android tablet (Transformer prime) encase that makes a difference.
I have deleted the game from the phone. Then did an export of the game from the tablet and on the phone when I go to Data sharing, get data from web it does not see it. I might have shot myself in the foot but after I tried deleting the game from the phone and it did not sync I deleted it from the admin website and exported from the tablet again with no luck. When I log into the admin website for the tablet I can see this game.
For the lineups I don't see Preset fielders option when I'm doing the lineup. I only see Copy lineup to roster, and swap teams.
I'm running v3.44.402. Play Store says it's up to date.
Thank you

Re: Data Sharing - FAQ
Dilemma: How to keep iPad #1, iPad #2 and Web DB synchronized.
I used web data sharing to populate iPad #2 with team and game info from Web DB and iPad #1. I understand League names do not transfer via data sharing, so I manually created the exact league names on iPad #2 that are on iPad #1. I had to manually assign all teams, players, and games on iPad # 2 to the appropriate leagues (not sure if this is the best way to accomplish this, but...)
I have 4 games to score today, and am not confident that iPad #1 has enough battery to handle 4 games, so I am bringing iPad #2 as a backup. My belief is that iPad #1 and iPad #2 are now synchronized. My concern is that if i have to use iPad #2 to score the 4th game today, will I encounter any problems when uploading this game's data to the Web DB and Team website? Because players and leagues are now identical on iPad #1, iPad #2 and the Web DB, I don' t think I will have any problems uploading. The only new element that may potentially arise on iPad #2 is a new team not yet in the Web DB or on iPad #1, but I think if this situation arises, a simple upload of this game with the new team, and then perform a data sharing sync of this game and team to iPad #1 should keep everything in sync.
Comments or corrections welcome. Thanks everyone!
