How to score triple play

Post by jcheng » Fri Jun 04, 2010 11:08 pm

My son's team had this play tonight to end the game. I haven't been able to score it in the proper order for the scorebook.

No outs, runners on 1st and 2nd. Batter hit grounder to SS, who stepped on 2B for the runner coming from first, and threw to 1B to get the batter. The runner from 2B came around to home, but was tagged out on the throw from 1B to C.

I can't seem to get the correct order of outs in the scorebook:
In Play -> Out -> Ground Out
Location
6-3-2 -> done
Runner on 2B - Home - Out - Tagged out - 6-3-2
Runner on 1B - Second - Out - Triple play
This gives scorecard with 1st out to batter (TP 6-3-2), 2nd out to BR from second (TO 6-3-2), and 3rd out to runner from 1B (FO)
On stat summary, SS, 1B, and C are credited with TP; batter with GTP

If I try:
In Play -> Safe -> Fielder's Choice
Runner on 2B - Home - Out - Tagged out - 6-3-2
Runner on 1B - Second - Out - Force Out
Batter - First - Out Triple Play
Scorecard shows 1st out runner from 2B (TO 6-3-2), 2nd out runner from 1B 2nd out (FC 6-3-2), and 3rd out batter TP FO between 1st and 2nd.
Stats show batter with GTP; SS, 1B, and C with credit for TP

If I try:
In Play -> Ground Out -> Location -> 6-3-2
Runner on 2B - Home - Out - Triple Play
Runner on 1B - Force Out - 6
Scorecard shows 2B runner FO at home (out #2), runner from 1B FO (3rd out), and batter TP 6-3-2 (first out)
Stats show batter with GTP; SS, 1B, and C with credit for TP.

I suspect that it may not be possible to get the out order correct, but that the first or third options may be most accurate from a scorecard depiction? Or should I do it differently? Fortunately, it was the game-ending play, so I could keep undoing to try out different options!

Try this:

In Play -> Out -> Ground Out
Location
6-3-2 -> done
Runner on 2B - Third - Safe - Advanced by batter
Runner on 1B - Second - Out - Force Out
Batter - First - Out - Triple Play
Runner on 3B - Home - Out - Tag Out

My iPod's not working so I can't test it, but it looks good on paper.
