Editing in Pitch by Pitch
Re: Editing in Pitch by Pitch
Sorry to be stupid, but how will I know when you correct my data. We have a game tomorrow evening 6/30.
Re: Editing in Pitch by Pitch
FTM will email you back and tell you to "import" your data if they have made a change..
if you have not heard back before your next games.. score away and then after games re export your data. want them to have as current a version of your database as possible so when you import it back it is complete. .

Re: Editing in Pitch by Pitch
IMPORTANT EDITING TIP for iPad Users:
I've encountered numerous problems in pitch-by-pitch editing on the iPad, including put-outs credited to a phantom (i.e., still on the bench) player, put-outs without a specified position, inability to change a play (e.g., from hit to error or "on the throw" to stolen base). I've documented these for tech support, and they are limited to the iPad, and I imagine most will be fixed in the next release.
The good news is, these problems are limited to the iPad.
What that means for iPad users is that you CAN successfully edit these plays in the iPhone version of the app. You don't even have to own an iPhone; the iPhone version works just fine on your iPad.
Follow these steps to edit uneditable plays on your iPad:
- Download the iPhone version of iScore to your iPad. You will now have two versions of iScore installed. You'll know which is which when you launch them.
- Score your games normally on your iPad
- Export (Options / Export) your data after each game (this will put it on the iScore servers and on your team web site if you have one)
- When you encounter an uneditable situation, launch iPhone version of iScore on your iPad
IN iPHONE VERSION
- Go to Options / Import to import your data into the iPhone version. (NOTE: this is a real import, because you are importing into the same device that you exported from. This is not data sharing.)
- From Game Manager, locate the game you wish to edit, and enter the Pitch-by-Pitch editor.
- Make whatever changes you want in PBP. They should "stick" (as they do not do in the iPad version).
- When you're done making your edits, go back to Options and Export. (NOTE: this is a real export. Any exports made from the iPhone version on your iPad WILL overwrite your primary database.)
- Close the iPhone version and launch the iPad version of iScore
IN iPAD VERSION
- Go to Options and import your data
- Your data are all cleaned up, and the right stats are on the web site
- If you need to generate a new scorecard to the web site, just email the stats to yourself (or to "web"), and you will not only get a clean set of stats in your email, but your web site will have a fresh scorecard as well.
I'm confident that FTM will soon come out with a new version of the iPad software, but this is a pretty painless, self-sufficient way to work around the current bugs until then.
