Foul ball errors

Post by atf » Thu May 13, 2010 5:14 pm

I tried to score an error on a foul ball and could not. The left fielder dropped a fould ball. The next pitch resulted in a 2-run homerun which should be unerned runs to the pitcher. Is there are way to score an error on a foul ball?

When using the misc -> assign error it only charges the fielder with an error (stats only) it does not show on the scorecard, but does show in the stats.

Are there any plans to allow us to change the foul ball to an error in the play by play edits

We do not have any plans in that regard. The method described above (Misc->Assign Error) is the one that would be used to assign errors on foul balls.

NOTE: If the question is whether we plan to allow inserting of errors in the future, then the answer is yes.

Any progress with this upgrade? Often, the scorer doesn't rule an error immediately on the play. In the mean time the game has continued before the scorer rules. It would ne very useful to be able to assign the error for foul balls in the Play by Play.

The scorer can use Misc->Assign Error as soon as he determines it is an error. You can use a note to indicate that it took place several pitches before the reason you did not assign it if you like.

You can also now edit stats directly for any game, so you can add errors to players stats even after a game is completed, and add notes in the Pitch by Pitch listing. To edit stats and add an error to a plyaer, select the game in Game Manager, tap Fielding stats for the appropriate team, and tap the value for Errors for the player you want to edit.

Is there any way to correct the linescore to reflect the error once added to the player fielding stats?

You may edit stats for individuals and it will show on team and cumulative stats but it will not reflect on the box score.

FTM, I'm loving having the post-game editing capabilities. Thanks for this functionality.

However, I would really like to see some more flexibility in editing the PBP. We started our spring season this past weekend, and with the temps at 25 degrees at game time, there were more than the usual number of fielding errors. On one pickoff attempt, I assigned an error to the shortstop, but later rethought the decision, and wanted to remove the error.

I was able to decrement the error count on the SS (it was not a good day for him), but the PBP still shows the error assignment. So -- for the moment -- his stats are fine (the error has been removed). However, if I Recalc the stats, the error will reappear.

It would be good to be able to delete that particular play altogether. I realize that for some plays or pitches, deletion would be disastrous. But for things like assigning an error -- that are essentially an add-on to the action -- the ability to delete (or even add) would be a benefit.
