ERA & Innings Played

Post by cpinserra » Thu Apr 01, 2010 4:04 am

Three questions:

1) Why is it that I set the innings to 7 in the game settings screen, but my pitcher's ERA numbers are still off? It seems as if the stats are not computing the pitcher's ERA based on 7 inning games.

2) Why does the game not automatically end after 7 innings if I have set the game for 7 innings in the setting menu? Do I always have to manually end every game?

3) Is there an option to make all games played 7 inning games, or does each game have to be changed to 7 innings every time you score a new game.

re 1) ERA will always be calculated using 9 innings. ERG will use 7 innings if that is the number of innings you have chosen

re 3) I think FTM have just announced that this will be done in the next release - currently you have to set each game to 7 innings

For #2, if you have your game set for 7 innings, iScore will automatically end after the top of the 7th of the home team is winning. It will automatically end after the bottom of the 7th as long as there is not a tie. If there is a tie, and you still want to end the game, then yes, you will have to use Misc->Game Over from the scoring screen.

Quick, probably stupid question:

If I forget to make a game a 7-inning game at the beginning, can I edit the options later to reflect that so that ERG is accurate? It won't change anything in the scoring, because in all such cases I would have selected "Misc>Game Over" at the end of the 7th (or middle, or earlier if there is a time limit). This is strictly about whether an edit to game options is allowed so that ERG will be properly calculated, and how to go about doing that.

Yes, you can edit the number of innings after the fact, and yes, the ERG will be updated. To do this, go to Game Manager, select your game, click Play. When the play screen comes up, touch the "tools" icon. You can change the # of innings there. Now this part is a little strange... Exit back out of the scoring screen, then click Play one more time from Game Manager. This will force the statistics to be updated with the new 7 inning value. (We update the statistics data any time the Game Over screen comes up, so after making the change, you just need to exit and go back in to force Game Over to come up once last time.)
