I am reviewing the pitcher stats that I emailed myself after the game and am struggling to reconcile total pitches.
The PIT value by pitcher does not equal the pitches when I count them on the scorebook or look at the location scatter. In both cases the game stats in excel have a lower value.
The second reconciliation issue is FPB + FPS does not equal the BF. The BF total is higher. Looking at the scorebook I tried to adjust for first pitch foul balls and first pitch balls in play but that did not resolve either.
What should I be doing to get all pitches included into these stats?
Trouble Understanding Pitcher Stats (resolved)
Re: Trouble Understanding Pitcher Stats
the pitch count should reconcile. I suspect a substitution issue
I have not seen a bug mentioned before on the forum to this regard . but will be glad to help trouble shoot .. to see if something you can identify and fix on your end.
First, What platform (Android or iOS) and device (phone/tablet model) are you using? and Are you on the most up to date version of iScore Software (what version is your app)?
Second, do the Pitcher stats for number of batters faced and number of outs match expectations?.
(I have had occasion where folks think scorecard has less pitches than the stats, , because they forget to count the last pitch (the third strike on a strike out, or the last pitch on base hit, HBP, BB, etc.. or forget to count the x for fouls balls after 2 strikes) but I have not seen stats being less than scorecard unless a substitution issue)
Post back with your findings and we can take it to the next step if needed.

- My first thought is you inadvertently did not have the pitcher in for the whole game.. Ie you had an unassigned pitcher (i.e. pitcher = ?) for some part of the game, so the stats for pitcher A would be lower than the scorecard. double check outs played and batters faced is a quick check,
a more detailed check would be reviewing the play by play pitch editor to Make sure the pitcher is in the game from start to finish .
If pitcher is not in game from start to finish, correct starting line up and substitutions in pitch by pitch editor . then do a stat recalc.

Re: Trouble Understanding Pitcher Stats (replied, user response back needed)
Thanks for the quick reply.
I am using the IOS App and am running v 5.020
I have gone through the play by play detail and have a pitcher assigned to every pitch and I did the recalc option in case there was a substitution issue. I did not see anything change.
We had another game tonight and I think I found the sequence of events that causes this issue. After every strike I was edited the pitch to select looking or swinging. In researching this issue online today I found out about the swipe option for swinging strike. When I used the swipe option to record a swinging strike and left the looking strike as simply a tapped strike and did not edit the pitch the total pitches seemed to be right. I did edit some in the 1st inning and stopped when I saw I was getting out of sync
I still have one pitcher with 11 BF and 6 FPS and 4 FPB. By the scorebook it should have been 7 and 4. Oh. . . He inherited a batter with a 2-1 count. I actually have one BF twice with two different pitchers for the same Plate Appearance.
So I think the issue is just the edit pitch to add looking or swinging and those being left out of the total pitch and strike counts. And recalc doesnt fix it.

Re: Trouble Understanding Pitcher Stats (replied, user response back needed)
Please explain what you mean by this
All you need to do for strikes ..
For strike looking , just tap strike button
For strike swinging, swipe strike button
P.S. iphone or ipad ?
Specifically, What are the key strokes so i can try and replicate..... after every strike I was edited the pitch to select looking or swinging

Re: Trouble Understanding Pitcher Stats (replied, user response back needed)
I am using an Ipad.
I am tapping Strike
Then I tap in the game log where it reads Strike 1
It opens the pop up with the four edit options for Substitution, Strike 1, Note and Game Adjustment above the pitch position edit
I tap edit next to Strike 1 and can choose Looking or Swinging.
I tap Looking
I tap outside the edit box and I am ready for the next pitch.
This sequence causes the pitch to be excluded from the player and team pitching stats.
The counter for the pitcher on the scoring page is unaffected.
Yes - learned about the swipe today for swinging. This is so much better. . . and seems to resolve the issue. But I think I did find a buig and would love to be able to recalculate the first two games accurately. The only strikes that were getting counted were the foul balls and balls in play.
Thanks Again.

Re: Trouble Understanding Pitcher Stats (replied, user response back needed)
I think this topic is resolved, the issue was the 'non normal' entry method of "strike swinging" using the play-by-play edit window on the iPad instead of normal "Swipe-Strike" button

Support posted a semi related note I thought i would pass along, regarding pitch counter and normal subs vs using editor.

The statistics for the game will still be correct as you noted, but the "current pitch count display" is tracked by separate counters that are based on the normal scorekeeping flow, not "editing". It is something we hope to change one day, but it requires very significant effort to do so.
