Re-adding a player to my roster -merge players. (resolved)

Post by $tinky » Sat Aug 27, 2016 8:48 am

This fall I have a kid who is returning to our roster. He played a season in the past. I went to roster and searched his name and added him. when I added him now I go to team stats and his stats include all the stats from where he played against us since 2013. I only wanted to include the one season when he played for our team. What would be the correct way to add him so that only this season shows up under stats?

You want to use leagues.

put all the games for this season in a league and only enable that league and you will only see stats for the league (not lifetime).

Remember to assign the teams to the fall 2016 league also

I'm still stuck on this. Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can get this players stats to show up correctly with the rest of our team?

the most common way would be to use leagues. there are some other ways to handle your Fall 2016 pick up player, but Leagues are very powerful and provide the best way to group and filter games, players, teams and stats

Here are the basic steps for say a Fall 2016 league.

1) Create a League called "Fall2016"
(League Manager > Add/Create a League >)
tip: you can have as many leagues as you want, What ever logical groupings that make sense to you
(some common ones i see are: Spring 2016, Summer 2016, Fall 2016, Pre Season 17, Regular Season 17, Post season 17, Freshman , Junior Varsity, Varsity .. etc etc etc.)

2) Assign all Games played last fall to the Fall 2016 league
(Game Manager > Select Game > Assign League > )
tip- Leagues are "Many to Many" relationship
- you can assign as many games as you want to a single league
- you can assign a specific game to as many leagues as you want

3) Assign your team from last fall to Fall 2016 League
(Team Manager > Team > assign League > )
- you can assign as many Teams as you want to a league
- you can assign a Team to as many leagues as you want

4) Assign your players from fall to Fall2016 league,
player Manager > select player > assign league
- you can assign as many players as you want to a league
- you can assign a Player to as many leagues as you want

5) OPTIONAL - you can also assign all your opponent teams and players to leagues.
but it is not required if you only care about your team and players.

5) Turn OFF all the other leagues, turn on only Fall2016 league (CRITICAL STEP)
( League Manager > Leagues > on/off)
- your device will now filter the Game Manager, Team Manager, and Player Manager listings to ONLY show Fall2016 - only Games, Teams and Players you have assigned to Fall 2016 league will show up under their respective game, team and player manager pages.

6) To view Pick up player stats for Fall 2016.
Go to Player Manager > select player > you will see only stats he made in FALL 2016 league games

7) To view Pick up player stats played with your team
Go to Team Manager > select team > select stats > you will see only stats for the team for FALL 2016 league games

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all that info. Several things in that were helpful to me. I don't think I explained my issue very well. Lets see if I can do better this time. First of all here is how I do my leagues.

9u fall
9u spring
9u total
10u fall
10u spring
10u total
11u fall
11u spring
11u total
12u fall
12u spring
12u total
Lifetime

I add the games accordingly. I think I have a grasp of how it works because the stats are correct. So this kid has played against us since 10u. So his name is in my list of players. Lets call him joe smith. He picked up with us in 11u fall then went back to his old team for 11u spring. Then he left the old team permanently and came to play for us in 12u fall and now 12u spring.

I view stats on our website and also in the app I go to team stats and view by season (league) or I view lifetime stats. Currently I only have stats for him in 12u fall and 12u spring. The 11u fall does not show up.

** also when I go to player manager. Joe smith shows up in there twice. I think this may be where the issue is. but I don't know how to fix it.

I don't want his stats for when he played against us for his old team to show up in his stats for our team.

Does that make a little more since?

yes i understand. that is exactly how program is designed. We can help you get there. It is just a matter of making sure you have your players, teams and games correctly assigned to right team rosters, Game Line ups, and then group the games in the right leagues . It is all pretty linear. When you have it assigned right, You then can easily filter stats by league.

that said, the duplicate player may be potentially making it more confusing for you then needs be and we can clean that up .. .
but before i explain solving the multi joe smith problem, a couple questions.

Question1: Do you have one team for all years or many teams. IE When you turn ALL league ON . one team ie MY TEAM or many teams ie 9UName, 10uName, 11uName, 12uName (either way can work, just can explain better if i know )

Question 2 - do you use INACTIVE status on players in Team Manager Roster ?

Question3. Exactly where do you see Joe Smith stats (and associated games) show up that are NOT for your team?

a) When you do Team Manager > YOUR TEAM > stats. you should only see stats from games where JOE SMITH was on your teams line up (not opponents)

b) but if you have ALL LEAGUE on, when you do player manager > Joe smith > you will see stats for any game he played regardless of team . but if you only enable leagues he was with your team (12u fall, 12 u spring, 11uFall ) and turn off ALL others. then you will only see stats for when he was with you (12u fall, 12 u spring, 11uFall )

* He picked up with us in 11u fall then went back to his old team for 11u spring.

* Currently I only have stats for him in 12u fall and 12u spring. The 11u fall does not show up.

* when I go to player manager. Joe smith shows up in there twice. I think this may be where the issue is. but I don't know how to fix it.

If you have all the joe smiths assigned to the right teams and leagues .. likely The reason 11U fall does not show up is likely because you doubled up Joe Smith in player manager. one joe smith is assigned to 12u and the other 11uFall .

are you confident both Joe smith are Really the same person ( I will assume you are .)

as a preventative measure, Do an Option Export to backup your data on the iscore servers.

you can easily combine both joe smith into one using Player Manager > MERGE (lower left button) > highlight one joe smith on left and other joe smith on right.

the resulting joe smith needs to be Assigned to all appropriate leagues.

alternatively,
you can create two joe smiths. joe smith 1 is on your team (U11 Fall, u12 spring, u12 fall, ) and joe smith 2 is off your team (u9,u10, u11 spring).
example lest call them simply 1) Joe Smith (implied on your team) and #2) Joe Smith - opponent
.
then For each game he played AGAINST you go to pitch by pitch editor, and change starting lineup so remove joe smith and add replace with Joe Smith (opponent) to same spot in line up. then do a recalc

another reminder / tip. = Make sure you have all the appropriate leagues assigned to the team that drives your Team web site subscription, so you can choose leagues in drop down box on web site.

Ok thanks to your help I got it done. I'm not sure exactly how to explain it. I merged the two players and then went back and deleted joe smith out of the games that I didn't want the stats to show up. So I don't think what I did was text book but, not much I do is textbook.

thanks again for posting all that info.
