Upgrades Android (future.feature.request)
Upgrades Android (future.feature.request)
It has been since April 2014 since there was any major Android update. "It is on our list" is getting really old. Since GC dropped Android there isn't any competition so there isn't any urgency for upgrades.
Re: Upgrades
I will be interested to hear the 'official response from support' but in the interim,
My two cents, as a long time user and monitoring this forum unofficial and unaffiliated with company....
the post implies this is Android centric.. I do not think that is the driver for baseball iscore.
The developers appear to have been prioritizing their resources in fixing bugs if/when identified on both iOS and Android platforms, phone and tablets, and keeping current with changes in operating system updates. Additionally their focus seems to next be expanding their product line into other sports (basketball, soccer, football, and most recently lacrosse (2016).. ) AND upgrading the remote viewer iSocrecast experience for baseball with iScore 'central viewer' launched in 2015 for both iOS and Android. Additionally, they seem to be adding more "discovery partners" and third party alliances behind the scenes which do not require formal App updates - just new options on Discovery Screen. Lastly, it appears, they have been expanding their support and development resources with their acquisition by SIPlay.
For baseball, which was their first iscore sport app, it still appears to be the flagship of their product line, and i believe developers have continued android support relatively (+/-) on par with iOS. When they introduced their "Central Viewer App" in 2015, they did it on both iOS and Android - and baseball is the screen shots represented in both google play and apple stores - even though 'Central Viewer' supports multiple sports.
last update i see for both iOS and Android.. ..
google play - android is April 2016 (v 4.50.402) w MLB 2016 and bug fix
apple store - iOS is July 2016 (4.7502) for bug fix, notably add player fix
In my book, the last "major version" - version 4.0 for Baseball app was actually in Spring 2013 (not 2014) for both platforms iOS and Android.
I am not sure what features would even merit a "Major update" ( iScore 5.0). but they exceed my expectations in Version 4.0 and I am confident they would impress again with 5.0. however, Historically the developers do not pre announce future release features or dates . Selfishly, it would be nice to have some insight into their expectations in terms of upcoming features and timing, not just for Android, but for Baseball - but that has not been their standard mode of operations.
- so again, i am interested in the official response, but that is my unofficial two cents.

Re: Upgrades
We will continue to update the entire line of products. Bug fixes will tend to get priority when they are affecting the ability to score games. If there is anything that you can not score in a game, please let us know as being able to capture the details of the game is the most important thing. The developers actually use the products to score games constantly, and at this point we feel the capabilities of scorekeeping itself are pretty complete. We will continue to evolve the experience, but as indicated by OhioTex, that may mean the products surrounding iScore scorekeeping products themselves (the iScorecasts, integrations with other products, the introduction of new products like the "SI Play" product for organizations, etc). Do not read this to mean we will not be enhancing the scorekeeping products themselves - we absolutely will. And all the suggestions people make are in fact tracked and go into decision making about when / what to update. We do not as a rule pre-announce anything about when specific updates may make it into the products however.

Re: Upgrades
Thanks for the detailed open response for the benefit of the whole community.
The original post @Mays30, was about concern for no recent major update for android and when users could expect future verson . - i believe that has been addressed and answered by support.
My "unofficial" (and legthy) response was to level set across baseball ( both android and iOS platforms) that although the major versions have not happened as rapidly as in the beginning, (v1 2009...v4 2013) baseball has been strongly supported but not sure what if anything was on the horizon for a v5.0. - i believe that has been validated and refined by support with Points answered.
Futhermore ...
I like how support clarified, the "total experience" has been actively updated. I did not phrase it that way, but i would agree.
I also like how support reiterated they are committed to prioritize fixing any bugs that are found that impair the "ability to score a game". I think most users on this forum would agree, that should be a top priority and developers have done this well in the past and appreciate the confirmation on priority go forward. (the forum can continue to help developers identify and flush out issues.)
As to any 'new news' on next upgrade, i appreciate support reiterating they track and consider all new feature ideas/requests. But for the most part they consider the basic scorekeeping capabilities complete. The intent with new SIPlay model is to continue to enhance the total sports market and continue the practice of not pre announcing future features and dates before ready to publish to market. Selfishly, like to see more visibility to future baseball feature ideas/ plans but understand and appreciate their honesty and strategic direction to keep that underwraps till 'really' exists ( anti vaporware model).
