After scoring many games in the fall, all of which are attached to a league I've called 2015 Fall, I created a new league called 2016 Spring to separate the stats for an upcoming season. I ensured that all existing games, teams, and players were associated with the 2015 Fall league. I then turned off the 2015 Fall league and turned on 2016 Spring, and imported/discovered our team's first game. When I open it and tap Play to review the lineup, I discovered that all returning players on the two teams playing in the game I imported are listed twice. One instance has the historical info and shows both leagues attached. The second shows only the current league (2016 Spring). When I tried to merge the players together, I was stopped, and told I could not since both players were active on the same roster.
I suppose my questions are...
1. Does it sound like I am using the League functionality correctly?
2. Why would my players duplicate like this unless they were really two distinct players in Sport Ngin? Our Sport Ngin-powered webmaster states that the players were *not* created again as a separate instance/person in Sport Ngin if they were returning.
3. Are these duplicates or not? There certainly are more than one player with the same name/team attributes.
4. How can I resolve this?? Should I remove one "instance" from the lineup then try again to merge the players?
5. Depending on the previous answers...how do I prevent this from happening with all subsequent games I import?

If you can do an Options -> Export and email your customer ID to support@iscoresports.com, we can take a look at your data to see what is going on. Please included details of which team/player is duplicated.

Thanks. Email sent.
ETA: just stumbled upon this thread from last year:

Perhaps such is life with Sport Ngin integration?

Ah yes, that is correct. We would have found the same thing stepping through your data this year. It appears they are creating new IDs for the players from season to season.

Re: Players duplicated after importing game from Sport Ngin
Our webmaster sent me the registration entry for my son for the current season from Sport Ngin's league management system. It does show the previous teams and Sport Ngin "leagues" he has previously been registered to, so I think the player/person is the same, but perhaps whatever identifier is exported from Sport Ngin/consumed by iScore is a composite of one or more attributes ("league", "division", etc) on their side so that by the time iScore consumes it, its unique/different than an earlier instance of the same person?
So what are the next steps? Do you all need to go back to Sport Ngin and discuss this? Certainly this is not intended...??
In the mean time, what is your suggestion? I can either blow away all history or attempt to function with the duplicates somehow, neither of which is ideal.

Re: Players duplicated after importing game from Sport Ngin
If you either delete the future games that have both players on the lineups, or edit the lineups of the games that have both players listed, then you will be able to use the Merge option to combine the duplicate players into a single player.
