SEQ number is included for games that were not played
SEQ number is included for games that were not played
We played a couple of games this year for which we did not keep stats. After the fact, we wanted to keep the final scores in the app so I did the following:
- Started the game in the app (pushed play).
- Removed all players from the lineup. None of them have a sequence number.
- Went to the main screen where I would normally enter the first pitch.
- Went to Misc. and adjusted the score.
- Went to Misc. and ended the game.
This all worked as planned. However, when I look at these games on our team site, the players were assigned sequence numbers for the games that were not played in the order in which they appeared in the roster as non-starters.
In a separate spreadsheet, I aggregate the sequence numbers to try to balance out where people bat in the lineup. However, the sequence numbers are inflated because games that were not played are counted in the total. Can this be changed? Is there another way I should go about entering these games that will prevent this from happening?
Thanks!
Mike

Re: SEQ number is included for games that were not played
The sequence number is really just an internal field that is used for sorting the players in lineup order. It should not be used as a stats calculation. We will likely hide it in a future update as it does not have a useful purpose other than a player with a lower sequence number has generally appeared higher up in the lineup for the games.

Well, for what it is worth, I'm using it for the exact purpose that you described as not really being a purpose. It is definitely useful for me and I'd be bummed if the field went away.
Thanks!!

One other thing. I also find the sequence number to be useful in figuring out what is happening in the lineup when. WE use the app in our kickball league and shuffle the order week to week. Using the sequence number, I am able to chart when we have runners on base and when we are stranding them.

Thanks! Do you have a solution for our 10 and 11 hitters?

Re: SEQ number is included for games that were not played
You can create a league for games you did not really score for and don't include that league when you run your stats reports so that the sequence numbers are not included for those games in the charts you are creating.

Re: SEQ number is included for games that were not played
Actually, I lied.
The SEQ is now correct for each player's individual stats but is incorrect in the team stats.

I've moved the non-scored games to a different league. I've also changed the player memberships to make them members of only the scored league. In addition, I moved the non-scored games to the non-scored league and then exported the data.
Thanks,
Mike
