Play by Play on Player Spotlights

Post by brentwalker » Mon Mar 08, 2010 10:57 am

Noticed that when looking at the play by play, it shows all strikes as "(looking)". I do not recall ever being asked if each and every strike during an at bat is looking or swinging. I have only seen that come up on the third strike?

Is there a setting I am missing somewhere that I should be selecting this information? All of my strikes in play by play say "Strike (looking)".

To create a swinging strike, instead of just touching and releasing the strike button, touch it and slide your finger up. You will then see "Strike Swinging" on the screen instead of just "Strike".

You can do the same thing for Balls. The touch and slide will create an "Intentional Ball" instead of just a ball.

Ok, maybe I knew that but I had forgotten. From a usability standpoint, if this is the case then why present the user with the swing looking/swinging option for third strike? If the pattern is as you describe above, slide the finger upwards on a strike, seems that would hold true for no matter what the pitch, or maybe be presented by the dialog for all pitches. Seems inconsistent.

So, I guess I am stuck with what I have so far for all pitches (strikes one and two) set as "looking" since i did not indicate it so by the slide of the finger.

We have to ask after a third strike because without asking, you would not be able to record dropped third strikes. This has been covered elsewhere in the forums.
