Just a little confused...

Post by ixamnis » Thu Apr 23, 2015 8:17 am

There seems to be several ways of getting data from my device to or through iscore's server or to other devices. Can I get a quick explanation of the purpose and use of the following. Or point me in the right direction to find a manual or training video with this information.

1. Exporting and Importing
2. Synchronization (was this recently added in an android update?)
3. Data sharing
4. e-mailing

Did I miss any other ways?

1. Exporting and importing are used to send a complete copy of the data on your device to the server. This will update Team Websites and Admin Website, and make the data available for data sharing

2. Synchronization is a backup method that keeps copies of the games on the server for you automatically, and can be used for data sharing if you put "sync:" in front of the customer ID when doing the data share

3. Data Sharing is how you transfer individual teams and games between devices

4. Email can be done any time to send reports to people

I am having trouble figuring out what the difference is between exporting and synchronization, it would appear to accomplish the same thing. Also why I have to e-mail games to get scorecards to show up on my admin website? Shouldn't exporting and or synchronization accomplish that?
