Different Indoor Game Format

Post by jason.black » Wed Feb 10, 2010 4:26 am

I have a team playing in a indoor tournament that uses a different format. To speed up the game – the first time at bat for both teams they will basically bat twice (6 outs instead of 3) and then revert back to normal innings. Is there a way to score this? I would assume that when the 3rd out is recorded it will swap batting teams when on the field this won’t occur. Thanks. Jason

Can think of two suggestions.

The first would be to score the first 3 outs, then use the Misc, Skip Inning to skip the other teams at bat, then score the next 3 outs. Then do the same thing for the other team's at bat.

In the scorebook, you would wind up with visitor team batting in inning 1+2, and the home team batting in inning 2+3, then would be normal from there on out. So you would have one extra inning in the scorebook, but it would work. You could put notes in the game saying you are skipping to account for this format.

Another approach would be to use "SKIP BATTER" for 3 of the outs and using notes to say the batter was actually out. This would work as long as at least 3 of the outs in the inning were batters (as opposed to runners).

The first approach is probably a bit cleaner.
