Putting pitchers that don't get an AB into the box score
When pitchers are entered into the game on the defensive side-and then don't get an AB, how can I get them in the box score as having appeared in the game? (You guys have been very helpful with my questions. Thanks.)

Any pitcher that throws a pitch will appear in the pitching section of the box score.

Does that eliminate the possibility of printing out a traditional full box score?

Not sure what you mean by this. The pitchers are included in the pitcher section of the full box score. The pitching section is a part of the full box score.

Could you post a link to an example of box score that shows what you are referring to?mjones207@aol.com wrote:Does that eliminate the possibility of printing out a traditional full box score?

Re: Putting pitchers that don't get an AB into the box score
In the box scores I see on websites and in newspapers, the top portion includes all players that appeared in the game even if they did not have a plate appearance. In the iScore box, if a pitcher doesn't come to the plate, he is shown only in the pitching section. I would to see all players that entered the game listed in the box, or as it is shown in iScore program, Scorebook.
Thanks

When we look at ESPN's Box Scores for American League games (pitchers not batting), they list pitchers in a separate section below just like we do. See the following link:
http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore? ... les-angels
Here is a screenshot of a Box Score from mlb.com for an American League game (which uses DH for pitchers). It shows pitchers in the bottom section (not the top) the same way we do as well:

Re: Putting pitchers that don't get an AB into the box score
Point taken. I work only National League games. All players that enter the game are listed in the upper section-even pitchers that don't come to the plate. I am trying to adapt this program to the information I need to submit to MLB as an Official Scorer. Thanks for your explanation.
