Advice - moving up to High School Softball

Post by Rix » Wed Jan 30, 2013 7:38 pm

As an experienced scorer (probably close to 300 games), I've been volunteered to score for my daughters High School Softball team (still don't know if its going to be JV or Varsity).

Can any of you give me any advice on what to watch and expect that is different than Middle School or travel ball?

Just want to make sure I don't miss a beat.

Thanks,

Congrats .... You have been around iscore and the diamond for years.. Sure you will do great...

Hmm, difference high school and travel... Not much comes to mind.. Obvious 43' pitch distance..Some high schools want newspaper box scores.. See Perhaps more DP/flex use.. NFHS rules ... 2 re entry.. More full length games ( inning not time based). Some states adopt international tie breaker some do not.

Need to check up on the Courtesy Runner rules.
Travel ball rules are more liberal about who can run for the Pitcher and Catcher.
High School rules are very specific.
For example: "The same courtesy runner may not run for both the Pitcher and Catcher any time during the game."
