Pitch Location legend
Is there a index/legend somewhere that defines the pitch location color parameters on the cumulative pitch location report?
Also...While i like the pitch by pitch report...is there a version of this that tracks the pitch by pitch "by batter"...by that i mean instead of the scrolling down vertically for each pitch that the report scrolls down by AT BAT by batter with the pitch sequence for the AB displayed horizontally? This is much more intuitive as you isolate pitching by batter...

Re: Pitch Location legend
The legend for the pitch colors is on the device itself where you record the pitch locations.
If you view the "Play by Play" listing on the Admin Website for any game, it shows each at bat with the pitches horizontally.

Re: Pitch Location legend
Regarding the legend...is there a place where it exists other than a "live" game? I don't have any active games right now so in order to review the legend i would have to create a temp game just to go in and see it.
Let me clarify the play by play question...in the device app, the pitch by pitch includes the PITCH CHART.
What would be significantly intuitive is if there was a way to review the pitch by pitch CHART over the course of a single AB in a horizontal fashion while each successive AB is viewed on the next line below.
AB #!...pitch #1 chart....pitch #2 chart....pitch #3 chart...etc...
AB #2...pitch #1 chart...etc...
right now it's...
AB#1...pitch chart #1
AB#1...pitch chart #2
etc...
What is powerful would be assessing the AB on it's own merits and being able to visually review the AB in its entirety without needing to "read' and assess where it starts and ends...the AB itself is confined to the entire line.

Re: Pitch Location legend
We do not have a view that shows the pitch chart of each pitch on a single line. There are several issues with that approach including seeing the text that takes place on each pitch (there could be steals, pickoff attempts, caught stealing, etc) and there could be too many pitches to view on a single line.
You can view pitch locations vertically in the Pitch by Pitch listing. On iOS devices, you can also email pitch by pitch listings including the pitch locations to yourself from the Pitch by Pitch screen.
The emailed pitch by pitch shows clean breaks as each new batter comes up, so it is easy to assess where an at bat begins and ends.
For the legend, you can create a screenshot of the legend from a game if you need a reference to it outside of the app.

Re: Pitch Location legend
Perhaps i should have posted in the recommended feature section. I do understand how it is done in it's current fashion, my question was motivated by what i would call "industry standard practice" where its my experience that scouts/coaches track pitch charts in this manner.FTMSupport wrote:We do not have a view that shows the pitch chart of each pitch on a single line. If pitch by pitch charting in the app includes or can't be done without including steals, PO's, etc... then i understand the real estate difficulty. In practice the line by line approach is not limited by the length of the line since if it gets to the nth pitch that doesn't fit then you just carry over to the next line and your break between AB's is the next one.
Couple of things benefit this approach...printing out the current chart approach involves tons of paper and wasted "real estate" on the page itself. From a report design standpoint...the physiology of the eye is more conducive to horizontal movement vs vertical...Also, format allow for more immediate comparative value to judging AB to AB as the vertical view allows for comparative analysis of each sequential pitch during each AB as they are now vertically ordered (pitch 1, pitch 2, pitch 3, etc...)
Regarding the Legend question: Perhaps you could just tell me what they are? (yellow = ?, white = ?) Creating a "screen shot" on an iOS device seems like odd solution for something that should be documented. Would it be difficult to add the legend to the report to begin with in the same fashion you include the "stat definitions" for the other reports?
thanks

Re: Pitch Location legend
Now i understand the discrepancy.
Let me rephrase my original question: "Is there the ability to review a pitch location chart that identifies and includes a legend for: batted balls in play safe, batted balls in play out, foul balls, called strikes, swinging strikes?"
I now understand that the chart i was asking about shows only "pitch type"

We do not have that kind of analysis built into iScore, but we have two partners that can provide it from your iScore data --- http://edgehq.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and TruMedia (http://www.trumedianetworks.com/scoring-applications).

Re: Pitch Location legend
Thanks...was wondering if they had it...I'll probably sign up with one or the other...do you have any links to experienced users that have reviewed both and their advantages/disadvantages?
...any thoughts on adding a pitch location report that is vertical by batter but horizontal by pitch?
