FC, error or hit

How should this be scored. Runner on third, batter hits a ground ball to shortstop. Shortstop fields it clean, hesitates as she checks the runner on third who is breaking for home, and then decides to throw to first to try and get the batter but is to late and the batter is safe. I scored it as a FC, is that the correct choice?

Judgment call. If you judge that the SS could have made the play at first with ordinary effort if she hadn't looked home, then it should be an FC.
