Doesn't show as earned run? Why?
Doesn't show as earned run? Why?
Bottom last inning, tie game, international tie breaker (softball , fast pitch) last out previous inning, starts out on second base, lead off hitter hits a single, fly between center field and right fielder and drives in the wining run from second base. It shows on the score card as a blue infield with a light in the middle indicating it wasn't an earned run... How can that be? Hod do I show it as earned? Thanks,

Re: Doesn't show as earned run? Why?
Earned Runs are reserved for things that the pitcher has given up. The pitcher did not allow the runner to get on second base in the case of a tie breaker. When the runner is put on second for a tie breaker, if the first batter hits a home run, it will be one unearned (the baserunner placed on base) and one earned run (the batter that hit the home run).
