ipad 2 and iphone

Post by Coachsteve » Sun Mar 04, 2012 7:27 pm

First I was disappointed when I found out I had to buy the Ipad version $9.99 when I have the Iphone version of Iscore Baseball I had already bought a long time ago. The Iphone version install's on the ipad, however the display is different. The only way to upgrade was to purchase the ipad version. Now my problem is the data from the iscore iphone will not import to the ipad version. It says you can, but i exported all my data to my iphone and my iphone bluetooth will not pair with the ipad version. It pairs with the other iscore version thats on my ipad fine. The ipad version also crashed while keepng score freezing everything. Any suggestions? Anyone else have any of these issues?

You can run the iPhone version on your phone as you noted, but yes, the version that is optimized for the iPad is a separate product which requires a separate purchase.

You can use Web Based Data Sharing as described here to transfer between an iPhone and an iPad:

http://iscoresports.com/baseball/kb/faq ... _share.php

We can also transfer the entire database for you if you do an Options -> Export from both your iPhone and your iPad, then email us at support@iscoresports.com with the Customer ID of both devices. The iPhone data will completely replace the iPad data, so be sure this is what you want to do (i.e. if you have already scored with your iPad, you will likely want to do the Data Sharing described above to "combine" the games instead of having us transfer the data which will replace all iScore data on the iPad).

Thank you for such a quick reply. I would like to do the web based data sharing but it will not connect. As I said I have no problem doing the iPhone versions, but it will not work iPhone to iPad. I even tried paring with a different iPad and it don't work. I think it is a bug on your end. As for now I will export and let support do it.

The web based data sharing does not "pair" the way Bluetooth does. The iPhone and iPad versions can not connect ot each other over Bluetooth as described in the Data Sharing document, but you can use the "Get from Web Database" option as long as the device has exported.

We would be more than happy to transfer the data for you... just follow the steps requested and we can do the transfer.

I currently keep stats on my iPad 2 - which only has wifi connectivity. I also have the iScore app on my iPhone - which obviously has 3G connectivity.

Given that free wifi access at a many ballparks is hard to come by - is there a way to transfer data from my iPad to my iPhone (a sort of 'syncing') throughout the game - between innings, etc, so I can then update the iScorecast to the web on my iPhone.....allowing parents/grandparents who aren't at the game to keep up to date?

Its not possible to link the two in real-time.

Best option is if you can tether your ipad and your phone to use the phone's connectivity to access the internet on the ipad. This is what I do.

Next best option would be to use the iphone version for scoring games that you want to broadcast. You would use data sharing to sync the devices up before and after the game.

Is this an iDevice limitation or an app limitation?

In order to Data Share (transfer data between) the iPhone and iPad, you would need a 3G connection on the iPad. If you had internet connectivity on both devices, you could use Data Sharing over and over to transfer the game (you would have to delete it from the device you are transferring to in order to re-share it), but this does not seem very practical.
