I too had the "white button" issue this past week when scoring in world series tourney.
I thought I was imagining things because it did not do it all of the time.

We have not yet been able to reproduce this, but we do know that low memory (RAM) can cause strange issues. You might want to try force closing some other applications that may be running (Android allows running many simultaneous applications) to free up some memory. You might also try powering the device completely off and on to free up memory as well.

Android 2.2 / HTC Merge

Tonight I have tracked when the buttons go white. To recap, when they turn white, "Exit" and "Tools" buttons become inactive. "Undo" still works. This happens when I flip the keyboard slider out on the HTC Merge while on the Play Screen. I do this to enter text data ... like a player I didn't have on the roster. I was sliding it out then hitting the buttons to go into add the name(s).

When I use the "Back" button on the phone and return to the play screen (via the "Play" button), everything returns to normal. Once I noticed this, I tried to recreate it several times, and it did the above every time.

I am not sure if this also is effecting the email issue I previously reported. I am currently scoring a game to learn the software some more & to narrow the cause of the above reported issues. I will try to change the email without flipping out the keyboard slider on the HTC Merge.

I hope this helps track this a little more.

typing an email address WITHOUT flipping out the keyboard worked, but when I tried to send it and type an address via the keyboard slider, it would not send.

My fingers are a little to fat for the on screen keyboard - which is why I have a slider.

Hope this helps.

We will look into this issue. We do not have any devices with slide out keyboards to test with, but we will see if there is an emulator that can recreate the issue. In the meantime, it sounds like you have found a good workaround (not using the slide out keyboard for now).

Former Champ. I had the same problem yesterday while scoring my first games. Thanks to your input, I just figured out, if I hit "misc", then "show starting lineup", THEN slide out my keyboard and add players it is ok. If I slide out my keyboard first, the boxes are greyed out and the only way to get them back is to back out via my backup key, exit scoring and then press play again.

Using a Samsung Epic. Thanks for figuring this out.
