the foundation and core of iscore is as an electronic scorebook that lets you "score it as you see it" , From the scoring, the software does all the work, generates traditional scorebook in PDF associated player and team stats.
you can 'workaround' the main scoring and enter stats, and there is a thread that explains this at more length but the heart of the software is built on scoring games.. ..
