Iscorecast password protected

Post by morelam » Tue May 10, 2011 2:13 pm

New to scorecast. Can this be password protected? I don't like the idea of giving everyone my customer id, because there is no way to change it later. What if a player's parents get mad and leave team? They go to competitor, who can now watch all of our games. Is there another way to let a lot of people see our games without giving out the customer I'd #? Can I just give them a link instead?

You can email links to individual games from the main scoring screen. Just go to Misc -> Email Game Link.
Check out the new iScore Baseball documentation page!

Thank you, that will work. Just to make sure I understand how to do this, we have an out of town regional tournament that a large group of people would like to watch. If I email the link to myself, then forward the email to a preset distribution list, they will all get the link and I don't have to type in all of their email addresses? Do they have to keep clicking on update or will it automatically update as I score the game. Thanks for you help - this is so AMAZING!

It will automatically update as you score as long as you have a continuous internet connection. If per chance you lose connection at some point I think you would need to do iscorecast synchronize to reestablish the game for the viewers.

The email game link includes the customer ID. Someone can still use that link and view more than just the game you intended to share. We need a better way to secure the scorecasts to ensure only intended viewers are watching. The last scorecast I shared out had 27 Unique viewers listed. As soon as this information is shared outside of your intended audience, you no longer have a way lock this down.

Just modified the emailed game link to not include the customer ID. It is not necessary on those links. If you send a game link email now, the customer ID is not included.

Is the customer id what give others abilites to watch on iscorecast? Can the customer ID be changed? I try a test game and emailed the game link but I couldn't refresh to see if it worked. Should the iscore button in the option be on or off? And can you put in more then one email? Or is there any other way to change our id and be able to have the game on iscorecast. I know my husband likes the iscorecast and I don't want him to miss any of our son's games, and I would like to be able to change our id. Can anyone help? Thank you.

The customer ID = device id, (we use them synonymously)

The device ID is unigue to your specific hardware device. (generated by the device)
It can not be changed for a device, it can be found under "options >admin web site" on your iscore app.

The customer ID and user password (set under options > admin web site) are what allows you to log into into your free admin web site.

The customer id is also what someone enters at iscorecast.com to pull up a menu of iscorecast games you have made. (note iscorecast.com provides you a menu list of games to pick from, you use the same URL every time). emailing the specific game link, takes you straight to that link. And it changes with ever game . (you can send them a link to the page and have them enter the customer id or you can send them a link that includes the customer id embedded in it, or you can send the game Link for that game. )

On your app, under options, you need to turn on iscorecast, if you want iscore to post the plays while you are scoring (assuming you have Internet connection). if not on whilemscoring you can always post /update your score cast by doing game manager> select game> scroll down tomiscorecast synch

When you email a game specific link (misc> email link) you can enter multiple email addresses separated by a space.. Or you can email to yourself and forward to a distribution list in your own email program.

The email the recipient gets has a link to click that takes you straight to the iscorecast for that game (in flash or HTML as the viewers browser allows)

You can hit rplay if game has ended, or if in progress will auto refresh on it's own
