Enhancement request: Install to SD card
Enhancement request: Install to SD card
iScore is great on my Samsung Captivate, but runs so slow that it's almost unusable (especially when transitioning between lineup screens and re-ordering players within the batting order). I've tried all the tricks and tips (disabling other apps, etc) to try and speed it up to no avail. I'd like to be able to install it to external SD card instead of internal SD card to see if it will improve the performance.
It's a quite easy fix to the manifest file, shown in the link below:
http://mobile.tutsplus.com/tutorials/an ... o-sd-card/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Thanks!

Re: Enhancement request: Install to SD card
We don't know that installing on the SD card would help the issue.
We have been trying to get Google to send us a Samsung Captivate to test with as other users with this device have experienced the same thing. We went through a similar thing with HTC devices (not slowness, but an issue that only appeared on HTC devices) and tried to get Google to send us an HTC device to test with and they didn't - we wound up having to buy one. We can't keep buying devices every time a manufacturer has a specific issue --- this is the downside of a fragmented market like Android. We are still trying to get them to send us one as we have already spent thousands of dollars on various Android devices. Hopefully they will so we can resolve this issue. The alternative is we are going to have to figure out a way to not allow installation on certain device types.

Re: Enhancement request: Install to SD card
DO you have no plans to enable installation on external sd card in future releases? This was a major option for developers added to Android 2.2.
I'd be willing to test if it makes a difference on my Captivate if that helps.

Re: Enhancement request: Install to SD card
We do not currently have plans to do this. If it becomes a frequent request, we will look into it, but so far this is the first request we have had. Thank you.

Re: Enhancement request: Install to SD card
Can you tell us the exact Samsung Captivate model you have? Is it the:
AT&T SAMSUNG CAPTIVATE I897 GALAXY S ANDROID CELL PHONE ??
If we go buy one, we want to be sure we are going to see the exact same issues.

Re: Enhancement request: Install to SD card
I enthusiastically second the enhancement request! The internal storage on the HTC Desire fills up too quickly...

As a side note, I've since installed a custom ROM and turned off animations in the settings and have seen a huge decrease in the lag.

It would be nice if Samsung would release an update that includes the patches your customer ROM must be adding. Do you have a link you can share with the custom ROM information so we can research it and/or share with others?

Here's the link to the ROM I'm using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900568FTMSupport wrote:It would be nice if Samsung would release an update that includes the patches your customer ROM must be adding. Note: Using a custom ROM will most likely void your warranty and could brick your phone. Be careful and follow directions exactly.
Re: Enhancement request: Install to SD card
I too would enthusiastically support this request to store iScore programs & data on the SD card. From and development and support perspective, this is an easy change to implement on Android.
