Catcher catching foul on 3rd strike - Foul tip?

How do you score when a catcher catches the 3rd strike for a foul tip (i call it that, not sure if its the correct term). It's not a stike out or is it.

Welcome to the board.

It is a strike out swinging. Catcher gets a put out either way.

MLB Definitions and Terms:
A FOUL TIP is a batted ball that goes sharp and direct from the bat to the catcher’s hands and is legally caught. It is not a foul tip unless caught and any foul tip that is caught is a strike, and the ball is in play. It is not a catch if it is a rebound, unless the ball has first touched the catcher’s glove or hand.
This should help as well.

I have a question that probably only matters to those getting deeper analytics through Edge or some other such analytical tool for analyzing the data generated by iScore, but as a matter of usage/practice, how many record a caught foul tip with less than two strikes as a swinging strike, as opposed to a foul ball? It would affect a batter's miss % in Edge, but more importantly, as I think about it, since if caught the ball is live, shouldn't it be recorded the same way a caught foul tip with two strikes is?

I record it as a swinging strike. I believe the ruling is that it is technically only a foul tip on the third strike. Since the ball is hit by the bat, caught and not ruled an out, I don't see how it can be called a foul ball.

Rule tip.. There is very little 'foul' in a "foul tip".

It is a strike not a foul. (as stated in the rules, as turbo ag provided).

Edge should score it as a miss, it is is a strike swinging.

It is the same for first, second and third strike.. Like a normal strike, the ball is live, runners can steal, runners are not required to return to base like on a foul ball.

If foul tip not caught, it is foul and not a foul tip at all (by rule as turboAg provided).
(Batter gets a break if you consider fouls better than strikes swinging)

Iscore, enter as Strike swinging no special button, if you want to add a note to compliment your catcher later, use notes.
