Scoring attempted extra base hits
Scoring attempted extra base hits
How do I score the following?: bases empty, batter hits cleanly into left field and attempts to make it to second, but is thrown out there (7-4). Does the batter get credit for first base, i.e. a single? Then just curious, what would happen if it would have been an easy out at second and there is either an error on the throw from left or on the catch at second. Does the batter get credited reached on error?

Re: Scoring attempted extra base hits
Batter gets a single in both cases. iScore will then ask what happened to the batter after reaching first, and you would complete the entry of the play. We get a lot of questions about why we ask what happened to the batter when you just entered a single, and this is exactly why.
Scenario 1 (single + thrown out at second):
In Play
Single
Ball Location, Next
Out
Second
Tagged out (LF-2B)
Done
Scenario 2 (single + reached second on error):
In Play
Single
Ball Location, Next
Safe
Second
Error (whichever player caused the error)
