Accidental Import

Post by Treading water » Tue Mar 08, 2011 6:59 am

I went to import data from another users website today but I accidentally hit the global import data button instead. As soon as I realized what I'd done I hit cancel, but it was too late. The iPad imported my previously exported data set and over-wrote my newer data. Is there a way to get it back?

Send an email to FTM, sometimes they can work miracles.

Been there done that..

Send email to Support@iscorecentral.com include your device Id and describe the need.

You should be fine, They can recover your last export - only data loss is something scored after your last export.

We encourage folks to export after every game as a backup precaution.

It sounds like that's what he already has - his previously exported data. Only way to recover from that would be if there were an iPad backup in iTunes - recover the entire device.

"The iPad imported my previously exported data set and over-wrote my newer data. "

Doesn't sound like it.

My post wasn't very clear. I was hoping there was a way to recover the data in the iPad, because as I was hitting "export" to save my just finished game, I accidentally hit "import". I immediately started hitting cancel and watched in vain as the "swirl of death" retrieved my last export and overwrote my data. I didn't have a backup either. Can I suggest a verification button for importing data? Maybe something that says "ARE YOU @#$%*&*% SURE YOU WANT TO OVERWRITE YOUR DATA?

But there *is* a popup after you hit import, warning you that all data will be overwritten.

We actually do have a warning window as jcbeckman mentions. If you email us directly at support@iscorecentral.com, there is an outside chance we can still recover your data. Please include your customer ID (found on Options screen) and remind us in the email what happened (the people responding to email are not always the same people responding in the forum).
