Right/Left Hand Batting Stats

Post by marktwiseman » Wed Nov 17, 2010 9:51 am

We have softball players who bat both right and left hand. Right for power, left for slap/bunt/sacrifice. I know that I can position the batter on the screen to either be batting on the right or batting on the left, just by dragging the picture from one side to the other. Does anyone know if I can get stats on a specific girl and the stats are broken out by Left or Right handed batting. For example, She has a batting average of .500 when batting on the right versus a .250 when batting on the left. OBP, SLUGGING and other stats as well?

Not sure if this has been brought up before, but this could be a powerful tool for a softball coach to determine effectiveness of a player that bats both sides.

We do not currently have any reporting that allows this, but we do capture the information. This is something that falls into "analytics" a bit more than scorekeeping, and we will have some things coming out in the analytics area in the future. This particular stat is something that has been asked for before, and help us to prioritize things as more people request it. Thank you.

+1 on this request.

I have quite a few switch hitting players in my leagues, and they all are interested in separate statistics for left and right. This is especially true when they are just beginning and the new "side" is far below their initial side of the plate.

Another thing to consider - you cannot change the side of the plate in the pitch-by-pitch mode. That may be something to add as part of this enhancement as we often 'clean up' games scored after the fact from our volunteer score keepers.

Great product though. I'm enjoying it both on the iPad and iPhone4!

We will add "changing side of plate to pitch by pitch editing" as an enhancement request. Thank you.

I would also like the ability to post process this data...more from a pitching perspective. "Does she pitch better to left handed batters or right handed batters?"

This is actually more of an "analytics" type of thing. We may add some limited capabilities along these lines in future versions, but there is actually a company that can take iScore data and give you detailed analytics. Here is a link to their site:
