Upgrading to new iPad

Post by derekmull » Fri Dec 17, 2010 11:50 am

Turning in old iPad tomorrow for a new one. What do I need to do to move current score database to new iPad? I have already exported data from old iPad. Do I just select import when I get new iPad?

Easiest is to make sure you do a backup of your iPad in iTunes, then restore that backup. This way you will keep the same customer ID and all your data. If you don't do a restore, you will get a new customer ID from iScore on our iPad, and then you won't be able to simply import. However, you can email your old and new IDs to FTM, and they will copy your data into the new ID - then you will be able to do the import.

Derekmull...

I would recommend taking the email FTM approach....

Here would be my suggestion..
On old device
* Export from your old device
* Write down and save your old customer id

On new unit
* download iscore from apple app store on new unit
(will be free if you use same apple store I'd as original purchase)
* find your new iscore device I'd. (Id is hardware specific)
* email FTM support@iscorecentral.com with your old and new device Ids
* FTM will respond (in a day or so generally) and copy over your data base on their server
* then you can import on new device (with new I'd)

This will transfer your entire database ( including leagues) and any team web sites you may have purchased

I have never used iTunes to recover as jcbeckman suggested ..perhaps it will work.. But it may not.. I am concerned b/c iscore derives it's customer id from the hardware, and has seemed to be device specific to date..

If you do not have purchased web sites or a lot of leagues set up, you could dad data transfer w/o FTM intervention... Again, requires exporting and knowing your old device I'd and then bringing in the games on your new devil e through data sharing from web database..

Hope this helps

using the itunes back up and restore worked perfectly and easily!

Ended up with a new id, but all the info is there.

Thanks jcbeckman!

thanks jcbeckman for the itunes back up tip . learn something new every day..

derekmull- did you have a team web site subscription?
( if so, does the team web site get updated with new customer id unit? i will be surprised if you do not need to get FTM to 'transfer' the new customer id / web site association. in the past it has always been device specific. )
