Advanced by runner or Error?

Post by bcc69 » Mon Sep 20, 2010 8:17 pm

Runner on 3B comes home when the batter gets on due to a fielding error, do you score the runner on 3B, SAFE, Home, Advanced by Batter, or Safe, Home, Error? Thanks

How many outs? If there were 2 outs on the error then error coming home. If there were less than 2 then would the runner on 3rd have scored even if the error did not occur? Score keeper judgement call.

I score it as Safe. I'm always worried that putting it as error would give me two errors.

I noticed if you score it as advance by batter, the batter gets credited with an RBI. If you score it as an error, the batter does not get an RBI and the fielder only gets charged with 1 error.

If there is say 1 out and the batter hits a 6-3 ground out and the runner scores from third on the throw the batter gets an rbi even though he is out. The error putting the batter on base should not effect the rbi if it is the opinion of the scorer that he/she would have scored anyway. However if the runner on third took a secondary lead but did not break for home until the error then it is not an rbi and the runner reached home by the error, hence no rbi.

Didn't want to start a new topic, so hopefully I'll get a response to this "error" question here. If there is a runner on 1st & 3rd and the pitcher commits an error on a pickoff attempt allowing both runners to advance . . . how do I score that? If I advance them both on errors, I was hoping it would only assign 1 error to the pitcher like it does with the same fielder when the ball is batted into play, but it gave him 2.

Also, I see references to an enhancement that would allow overrides on earned/unearned runs. Sorry if this is being asked daily, but what's the ETA on that one?

As long as you enter both errors as part of the same play, the pitcher is only credited with one error. The way to score that would be to enter the pickoff attempt, then be sure to tap the lead runner first so it will ask what happened to the trailing runners:

Tap runner on 3rd
Safe, Home, Error, Pitcher
(asks what happened to runner on 1st)
Safe, Second, Error, Pitcher

Stats will show only 1 error on the pitcher.

For the next release, we submitted to Apple yesterday, so are just awaiting their approval at this point. We have had approvals in anywhere from 3 days to several weeks... it just depends on Apple's workload. Hopefully they are getting through approvals in days right now. We will see.
