Run Scored by an ejected player be allowed?

If you have any rules related questions, please ask in this forum. In general, enforcement of rules is up to the Umpire of the game and iScore does not specifically enforce them, but we want to make sure we score within them. Ask here, and experts can chime in.

Run Scored by an ejected player be allowed?

Post by KatyCubs » Sun Sep 23, 2012 3:53 am

In a high school level league game
The bases are loaded with one out.
Batter bunts,
pitcher fields the ball and throws to home
runner from third did not slide and football tackles the catcher.
catcher caught the ball, and pushed the runner to protect himself
runner punched the catcher
Both runner and catcher were ejected from the game
Umpire allowed the run to be score as runner "touched home plate before making contact with catcher"
Is this correct?
Shouldn't the run be disallowed because the runner is ejected for that play? In other similar situations, the run was removed.
The game ended tied 4-4.

Well the fight occurred after the play....but the runner should be out for
1. Interference of play
2. Not sliding at home (player safety)

but trust me, as my daughter is a catcher, more umps will not call the slide at home rule...
