The team scorekeeper and I are having a constant disagreement. He states that a pitcher should never be charged an error on a play to the mound. I say if the play can be done without an extraordinary effort...ie slow grounder/pop up and it is misplayed then it is an error.
No his daughter isn't a pitcher either...lol
What do y'all think

Re: Pitcher error
Pitchers can make errors as a fielder just like any fielder can. A wild pitch is not considered an error, but when the pitcher is acting as a defensive player, errors are treated the same way as for any fielder.

Re: Pitcher error
Not only that how many handle bunts, of course they Should be given errors, maybe never on those line drives back to the mound but soft grounds back to them, why on earth not? I'd be more inclined not to give catchers past balls... And they also need to be held accountable...I know of many pitcher's parents who think every ball hit, regardless of where should be caught... Their kids (more girls softball) should never be charged with an ER... But not charging them with an error either? Never heard of such a thing, if it comes to that, send them out there without a mitt...

Thx for your opinion
Re: Pitcher error
NFCA Home Plate: ATEC: Beyond the Basics of Scoring Fastpitch Softballw - Consider the distance of the mound from the plate and what the
pitcher's primary duty is. If she mishandles a sharply batted ball, do
not credit her with an error. You may credit her with an error on a
mishandled slow roller, bunt, or wild throw.
Re: Pitcher error
