Scoring steals question

Defensive player A reaches around behind the dribbler and tips the ball out of the dribble. The ball ends up in Player A's team mates hands, player A fast breaks and scores 2 off team mates pass. How do you score this? Who gets the steal?

I scored

Player A gets steal and 2 points
team mate gets an assist on the fast break pass

Some think the team mate gets the steal since the ball ended up in his hands. My view is the ball would not be available to steal without player A's efforts so player A gets the steal.

Your thoughts?

Player A gets deflection, player B gets steal and assist.

Correct, Player A would be credited with a deflection, which caused Player B to get a steal. Player B throws assist to Player A.
