Can I Export Play by Play?

Post by glen.holmes » Fri Nov 11, 2011 1:20 pm

I would like to do some analysis on the play by play information. Specifically, I would like to "count" how many possessions each team has. Is there a way to export that information?

There is not an export of the Play by Play, but there is a play by play listing on the device where you can quickly see which team has possession of the ball.

What is it you are trying to determine from # of possessions? Would number of possessions not be the same for each team with a variance of +/- 1? Possibly as many as 2 if the same team got an extra possession in each quarter they started the ball with... or if there are overtimes.... but essentially the two teams will have the same number of possessions.

I guess I wrote the question incorrectly. I want to know the NUMBER of possessions to analyze our efficiency both offensively and defensively.

If you want to describe the math you are using to determine these things maybe we can add more stats in a future update.

I think I'm going to implement some of the concepts from Danny Miles Value Point System and incorporate some other analysis around possession effeciency. Still working on the concepts. I will export iScore stats into an Excel spreadsheet and implement some formulas to come up with our analysis. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for being so prompt with your replies! I definitely would LOVE the Player Combination analysis like I emailed you guys previously. The "PM" stat is too one dimensional since it is just about one player vs the five guys that were on the court together.
